Biomedicine

Biomedicine encompass a broad category of basic and applied research that aim to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms.An increasing trend in this area of research is to focus on the translation of knowledge between bench and bedside.  Researchers in this field come from different areas of expertise, including public health, clinical research, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, and informatics.However, their researches conform to one purpose—combining knowledge from different domains of biomedical sciences for the development of new therapeutic strategies.

This was one of the main reasons the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Yuan Ze University created the Biomedical Informatics Program.  In addition to the many bioinformatics experts in the program, the department has also recruited faculties involved in basic and applied medical research.  The objective is to build a bridge between bioinformatics and medical research, accelerating communication and knowledge transfers between different areas of expertise.
